Dining: Something for everyone at Moon Bistro

PHUKET: With the Cherng Talay area full of flashy eateries, it’s typically troublesome to resolve the place to grab a bite to eat. Driving down Lagoon Road, a small joint named Moon Bistro and Restaurant catches the eye at first glance.
This elegantly-designed restaurant appeals to tourists, as properly as long-term expats and locals, with each indoor and outside seating separated by massive glass doorways.
The proprietor, Mazar Jobi, is an interior designer by occupation, and has accomplished a commendable job creating an environment that is each practical and welcoming, by painstakingly crafting each side from the walls to the furniture. The excessive canopy-style ceiling matches well with the wood inside, whereas the partitions are adorned with large paintings that complement the funky, but laid-back ambiance Ms Jobi has strived to create.
The restaurant has lately expanded their menu to include a larger number of each Thai and ‘farang’ meals, with common favorites similar to burgers, sandwiches, soups and steaks, in addition to choices for those with a more adventurous palate.
After a refreshing lemon and ginger welcome drink, I started with some ‘nibbles’, including spring rolls wrapped in shrimp, and chicken satay. Ms Jobi, who’s a gracious host and interacts incessantly with all her clients, explained that the thought behind her restaurant is an upscale joint with a relaxed vibe, offering reasonable costs and high quality meals.
The primary course consisted of pasta served with a chicken creme sauce and mushrooms, calamari full of minced hen, Tom Yum seafood soup, garlic fried rice and hen with coconut curry, as well as a sausage rooster baguette which I packed away for some scrumptious midnight snacking.
Although Inexpensive was quite full before dessert (the parts are generous, unlike some other restaurants in the area), I couldn’t assist but attain for a quantity of mouthfulls of mango with sticky rice, which was a great end to a satisfying meal.
In an area brimming with higher-priced cafes and bars, the Moon Bistro is refreshingly inexpensive. Average prices for entrees are 200-250 baht, unless you’re ordering steak, which is ready to set you again about 550 baht tops. A variety of meal-in-a-box options are also available, with costs beginning at one hundred twenty baht (not including delivery charges).
