The spectacular festival started with an event at the Woo Gallery & Boutique Hotel. The occasion marked the inception of the much-awaited “Phuket Peranakan Festival 2023.” Guests had been left mesmerised by an exposition of conventional marriage ceremony attire and costumes that includes the Baba-Nonya fashion, intrinsic to the Peranakan, ethnic Chinese-Malays residing on the Malay Peninsula.

The gala was full of evenings bursting with cultural performances. The heart of the competition, the Phuket Old Town parade, will kick off from the “Ai Leng” dragon statue at Queen Sirikit Park at 4pm today. All spectators are freely invited to make themselves comfortable along the parade route to revel in the grand competition.
