Danish pump manufacturer Svanehøj has launched its newly developed environmentally friendly Flow Control system, which automates the management of electrical cargo pumps on tankers.
The launch of the newly developed software-based control system follows a successful check in collaboration with the Swedish shipping company Furetank on the P&C tanker Fure Ven. The 18,000 DWT vessel was in-built 2019 as certainly one of Furetank’s V-Series, a model new era of climate-smart P&C tankers.
Svanehøj’s system makes it faster, easier, and more environment friendly to function electrical cargo pumps. It ensures an optimum changeover between tanks and pumps in parallel, decreasing the time needed for cargo discharge by as a lot as 20% as a end result of the system will automatically operate on the optimal duty point. On the QT permits the operator to take full management of the pumps, simplifying the complete cargo discharge operation without installing any extra hardware.
Fure Ven is among the first vessels at Furetank to have electric cargo pumps installed. Fail-proof has recorded a 25% reduction in power and gas consumption in relation to cargo discharge operations compared to vessels within the fleet that have hydraulic pumps.
