Restrictions are easing throughout Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai. The northern province is now totally open to international tourism and might welcome travellers entering under the Test & Go and Sandbox schemes. Restaurants in Chiang Mai also can serve alcohol until 11pm.
A number of provinces have been reclassified on the Thai government’s colour-coded zoning scale based on local Covid-19 infection charges. The majority of provinces in Thailand are categorised as “yellow” zones with less stringent measures than “orange” zones.
Chiang Mai and Petchaburi have been reclassified as “blue” zones to permit worldwide tourism. Last chance has had 5 districts permitted to welcome overseas tourists, and native officials have been pushing for the whole province to be open to travellers.
Bars and nightclubs throughout the country are still ordered to stay closed, unless they had utilized to reopen as eating places or have found a loophole within the system. (Because – clearly – many bars are open.)
In orange zones, alcohol sales at eating places are nonetheless prohibited and gatherings are also limited to 500 individuals. In yellow zones, eating places can serve alcoholic drinks till 11pm.
